You can get an accessible toilet key also known as RADAR keys from DIAL (LEEDS). They come in two different sizes; both are around 9-10 cm (4”) long but one has a large tab for people who would find that easier to grip.
Each key costs £3 if collected from our officeor £4 if supplied by post (second class).

You can apply for a Blue Badge by phoning the Leeds City Council Contact Centre on 0113 222 4401 (option 1) or online at www.gov.uk/apply-blue-badge.

DIAL (LEEDS) Wheelchairs can be hired by disabled people living in Leeds, or by disabled people visiting a Leeds resident.
We will need proof of identity and address when a hire agreement is signed.
You will need to sign a declaration of disability for exemption from the payment of value added tax (VAT).
Daily – 24 hours from time of collection: £3.00
Weekend – 12 noon Friday to 12 noon Monday: £5.00
Weekly – 7 days: £15.00
Wheelchair cushion – £2 per hire period.
A deposit of £20.00 also needs to be paid at the time of collection. This will be returned to you at the end of the hire period.

If you were born on or before 9th January 1952 you may be eligible for a Winter Fuel Payment to help pay for keeping warm in winter. This payment can be between £100 and £300, depending on your situation. You should get a winter fuel payment automatically if you get the state pension or another social security benefit (but not Housing Benefit or Child Benefit).
Find out if you are eligible for this payment and how to apply by contacting the helpline or via the website. if you call the helpline, you should have your National insurance number ready.
Claim forms must be received by the winter fuel payment centre by 31/03/15 for the next winter period.

Cold weather payments are an automatic payment of £25.00 made by the DWP for any week were the temperature is forecast or recorded as below freezing (0 degrees celsius) at the designated weather station for your local area. The temperature must be below zero degrees for a continuous 7 days.
You do not need to make a claim.
In order to get a cold weather payment you must either:
Be responsible for a child under 5 years old and in receipt of one of the following:
- Income Support
- Income based Jobseekers Allowance (JSA)
- Income related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
You are getting Child Tax Credit that includes a disabled or severely disabled child element,
you get Income Support, JSA or ESA that includes either a disability or pensioner premium,
You are in receipt of Pension Credit,
You are in receipt of income related ESA which includes either the work related activity component or the support component,
You have been awarded Universal Credit (please contact us for more details).
If you are a care home resident you will not qualify for a cold weather payment.
You could get a £140 (for winter 2014 to 2015) discount on your electricity bill through the Warm Home Discount Scheme.
The money is not paid to you, it’s a one-off discount on your electricity bill, usually between October and March.
You can also qualify for the discount if you use a pre-pay or pay-as-you-go electricity meter.
You qualify for the discount if in July all of the following apply:
- your supplier was part of the scheme
- your name (or your partner’s) was on the bill
- you were getting the Guarantee Credit element of Pension Credit (even if you get Savings Credit as well)

If you qualify for the discount, you’ll get a letter this autumn or winter telling you either:
- you don’t have to apply – you’ll get the discount automatically
- to apply by 30 January 2016 – the letter will tell you why and how.
